Our member spotlight for the month of September is Firefighter Rick Clark. Rick joined the fire department as a way to give back to the community. “I knew the fire company was seeking volunteers and when I retired it was the perfect way to give back to my community and to also keep physically and mentally active. There are many opportunities to gain new knowledge and learn new skills,” says Rick. Rick continues to say that, “there is nothing more rewarding than helping your neighbors during a crisis. From traffic control to putting out fires, it’s nice to know that you are contributing to the community.” Rick also uses his experience with design and metal fabrication to equip our emergency vehicles with mounting brackets to make equipment access easier.
In his spare time Rick enjoys spending time with family, building race cars, driving his 1949 Ford pickup throughout the back roads of Weisenberg Township, vacationing, and going to car races. He is currently building his dream car – a custom 1956 Chevy Nomad.
When asked what he would tell someone considering volunteering with the fire department, Rick says, “the fire department needs your help. The more volunteers we have, the less of a load each person has to carry. You will have the opportunity to meet great people, be part of a team, and make a difference in Weisenberg Township.”
Join Rick in helping to volunteer for your community. You can reach out to us on Facebook, send an email to membership@weisenbergfire.com, or stop by on a Monday night after 6:30pm. There is always an opportunity to help. Training is provided.
