January‘s member spotlight is on Gerardo Perez-Camargo. In Gerardo’s words, he joined because he was curious about the volunteer fire service and thought it would be a great way to get to know his community. Gerardo’s favorite part of volunteering is the, “camaraderie among firefighters. We look after each other and we have each other’s back.“ When he isn’t spending time at the fire department, Gerardo is developing diets for cats and dogs at Freshpet and spending time at his farm with his wife. When asked what he would tell someone who is curious about volunteering at our fire department Gerardo said, “you will have a friendly welcome. If you are like me, and have never been a firefighter before, there are a ton of things to learn and do. You also get the special opportunity to help your neighbors. It is always gratifying giving a hand when needed.”
